Winter Wonderland is my current test project and and the reason why things have been rather quiet here. Ana certainly keeps me busy!
Finally, I can share at least a few little sneak peeks of this beautiful pattern by Ana Morais Soares from ‘One Skein of Love’.

Winter Wonderland is her next CAL, starting on 11 November.
For six weeks, she will publish one part of the pattern once a week. The final part, the border, will therefore be published on 16 December – for anyone who wants to finish the blanket before Christmas.
The blanket consists of 14 different patterns, all of which are related to winter or Christmas.
For her blanket, Ana used a beautiful yarn from Hobbii called ‘Winter Glow’. (As long as you don’t know Hobbii yet, it is a European online yarn shop based in Denmark.)
‘Winter Glow’ is a beautiful variegated yarn (a blend of wool and acrylic) whose fibres vary slightly in thickness. Ana has combined two shades of green from ‘Winter Glow’ with a plain cream-coloured acrylic yarn that is rated as a medium yarn weight.
After I’d shared my project in several Facebook groups, I was often asked how much DK-weight yarn would be needed for it.
Well, as Ana used around 3,100 m of yarn for her blanket, I would estimate that you’ll need roughly the same yardage with DK weight yarn. In total, that’s would be about 1,100 g or 11 balls (based on Stylecraft Special DK). The actual amount needed will, of course, depend on how many colours you use and how they’re arranged.
For anyone who’s finding it difficult to work out how much yarn they’ll need if they’re using a different yarn weight to the one specified in the pattern, I’ve put together some information here.
How much yarn will I need if …?
My blanket is made using Stylecraft Special DK in White, Silver, Grey, Graphite, and Lipstick. White is the main colour.

As I’m still working on my blanket, I can’t say exactly how much yarn I’ll need just yet.
So I’ve made a rough estimate: 5 balls of ‘White’, 2 balls of ‘Lipstick’ and 2–3 balls each of the grey shades. That’s probably a bit too much, but I wanted to play it safe.
For anyone who’s interested, I’ll post here which colours I used for each row.
I hope you’ll all join in with this brilliant CAL. The pattern is available here.
I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for the lovely compliments I’ve received on my choice of colours.
To be honest, I sometimes find it difficult to choose colours for a new project. That’s why I’ve been looking at lots of mood boards recently. I found this colour combination on Pippin Poppycock. So the credit goes to her!

Have a nice weekend 💕
